Our calculators are private by design. Everything you enter — income ranges, home values, preferences — is calculated in your browser, on your device. It is never sent to us, saved, or sold. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no forms that collect your personal information.

What we do collect

Visit counts. Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which tools people find helpful — pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, and how visitors move through the site. Google Analytics uses cookies (small files stored by your browser) to do this. This information is aggregated and statistical; we use it to run and improve the site, not to identify you personally.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and operations, as virtually every website does.

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use it only to respond to you.

Advertising and cookies

This site is free and is supported by advertising. Third-party advertising partners, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance. That means some ads may be personalized to your interests.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators work the same whether or not you accept cookies.

Advertisers never receive anything you enter into a calculator. Your answers never leave your device in the first place.

We don't sell your personal information

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. There is very little we could sell — by design, this site collects almost none.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example, California's privacy law), you may have rights to know what personal information a business holds about you, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its sale. We don't sell personal information, and we hold almost none beyond analytics data and any email you've sent us. To ask about or delete information associated with you, write to contact@beststatetoretirein.com and we'll take care of it.

Children

This site is written for retirees and near-retirees. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this page

If we change how this site handles information, we'll update this page and its effective date. The promise at the top won't change: your calculator answers stay on your device.
